The face that peeped at me
With those laughter lines & twinkling eyes,
The face that made me arise & be alive
He walked with me and laughed with me
And he made sure that I was full of glee
He held my hand and made me stand
And made my childhood an abundant island
He stood with me and smiled at the scene
As I ventured into the world so serene
He watched me bloom he left no room for gloom
And made my teenage a an opportune time groom
He stood behind me as I became an adult
Oh so solid was his presence abundant
I was safe and I was me I was bold
And for him I was more than gold
For him nothing I did was wrong, it was always just a slip
That look on that face was enough to flip
The wrong to right
After all I was what he did paint
He stood away as chose my career, and let me be
He watched and consented as I chose my man, and let me be
He watched as I got by precious diamond veda, and let me be
He watched me flourish and he let me be
From him I learnt to work hard
From him I learnt to be kind
From him I learnt to stand up for others
From him I learnt to stand tall
And then just as I became the person I am
Time took its toll….
The face found it difficult to peep at me
The laughter lines faded though the eyes still twinkled
The face that made me arise and be alive
Is now just a memory in my heart
